The UK paper industry is a major water user, and is under increasing pressure to improve water consumption efficiency and to comply with ever more stringent environmental regulations.
The production of cellulose and paper pulp has a strong environmental impact due to the industrial methods used to obtain wood and the bleaching process. Large volumes of wastewater and residual sludge waste are produced, presenting a number of issues in relation to wastewater treatment, discharge, and sludge disposal.
SUEZ Advanced Solutions bring together the expertise and experience of thousands of professionals around the world, to provide knowledge-based solutions and innovative, clean and efficient technologies that significantly improve water management.
Our advanced technologies present viable specific solutions for manufacturers in terms of wastewater and waste management and the environment. We are focussed on improving production processes, reducing the consumption of raw materials, water and energy, reducing costs and ensuring overall business activities are in line with environmental objectives.
Our expertise includes:
- Leak detection & pipe condition assessment
- Waste to Energy solutions
- Wastewater treatment
- Water quality & biosafety services
- Design, construction, operation and maintenance of water and wastewater treatment plants
- Water resource optimisation
LEAK DETECTION & PIPE CONDITION ASSESMENT
To optimize water network efficiency Aqualogy have developed leak detection services which use helium as a tracer gas. There is no requirement to interrupt the network using this method and it can be delivered with minimum levels of on-site disruption due to the efficient design.
Our services are effective in plastic pipes and/or low network pressures, delivering a very high level of accuracy when compared to traditional acoustic methods.
DESIGN, BUILD, O&M WATER & WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANTS
We have the expertise to offer a full design, build, maintenance and operation service. This includes the optimisation and one-off, or periodic control of drinking water plants, wastewater treatment plants, and tertiary treatments for reuse and reverse osmosis desalination plants.
In the scope of the operation and maintenance of WWTPs, DWTPs and desalination plants, our objectives are:
- To reduce costs associated with the mogden formulas of calculating wastewater charges
- Optimise various processes using latest technologies
- Reduce sludge production
- Reduce energy consumption
- Ensure treatment level performance
- Ensure analytical control of water quality
- Environmental management of sludge, waste, brine and by-products generated in the treatment processes
WASTE TO ENERGY
Aqualogy have extensive experience in the operations of wastewater, grey water, effluent and sludge treatment, and have specialised solutions designed to:
- Produce more renewable energy
- Increase efficiency, in particular in terms of energy use
- Reduce the quantity of end-of-line waste to dispose of
Specifically, our sludge drying systems are designed to provide:
- Greater possibilities for end management, including energy recovery and reuse
- Safe systems that enable the use of energy recovered from processes
OPTIMISATION OF WATER AND WASTEWATER PROCESS
Water, wastewater and effluent treatment processes are key in order to meet the necessary legislations and reduce total operating costs. Aqualogy are focussed on the development of technologies to optimise these process.
Our team of experts work with customers to provide bespoke tailored solutions to reduce the running costs of their assets, increase operational efficiency and improve environmental performance.
Our services include:
- Analysis of existing processes and water usage
- Identifying methods to reduce costs
- Bespoke tailored solutions for increased efficiency
- Process optimisation using integrated solutions
- Improving environmental performance
- Compliance with environmental legislation
Aqualogy provide a full range of environmental and analytical services covering all water management needs. These services include the management and analysis of water quality, including process waters and discharges. Our environmental consultancy services include motnitoring and management systems relating to bio-safety and legionella control.
Our wide range of Water Treatment Services comply with Health and Safety Executive requirements under the L8 Code of Practice and we are registered with the Legionella Control Association.
REATMENT AND REUSE: PROCESS WATER
Treating wastewater streams to allow reuse in industrial processes creates a sustainable and more efficient process management method. With the aim of optimising water consumption, Aqualogy conducts projects to optimise the various water flows within the manufacturing process.
Our comprehensive understanding of how water is used in manufacturing production processes, allows us to make informed proposals and deliver measures to improve, optimise and reduce the consumption of water and associated scopes (energy, chemical reagents and sludge management).
We offer a wide range of applications to treat and reuse process water, while maximizing treatment capacity, reducing VOC emissions, improving safety and reducing costs.
WATER, CARBON FOOTPRINT
The water footprint (WF) is an essential indicator when calculating sustainability relating to the use of natural resources by humans.
Many organisations are conscious of their carbon footprint and are actively trying to reduce it by saving energy. Methods of saving water are also very effective due to the energy used in water treatment processes. Therefore Aqualogy provide both water and carbon efficiency audits and bespoke plans for water savings and to minimise costs, without losing process efficiency and effectiveness.
