SIAM (integrated system consisting of a methanogenic anaerobic reactor and a membrane bioreactor)

Carried out in conjunction with the University of Santiago de Compostela, SIAM is in the development phase for the elimination of organic material and nitrogen in urban or industrial wastewater by using an integrated system of bioreactors that generate less sludge and reduce energy consumption. This system will provide a final effluent free of suspended solids, with a low total concentration of nitrogen and organic material.

Continuous thermal hydrolysis (CTH)

Developed in conjunction with the University of Valladolid, CTH technology is based on thermal sludge treatment prior to anaerobic digestion, to increase biogas production and minimise digested sludge. The process uses the excess residual heat from cogeneration as an energy resource.

SEMPAC (hybrid biological treatment systems)

In conjunction with the University of Santiago de Compostela, SEMPAC is a technology under development, based on an aerobic membrane bioreactor with suspended biomass and activated carbon dosing. This technology achieves a higher degree of emerging pollutant elimination than conventional systems.

ICE PIGGING

In conjunction with the University of Bristol, ice pigging is a solution developed that involves the injection of ice into pipelines for the maintenance, disinfection and cleaning of tanks, pipes and networks with water quality problems, such as dissolved solids, sedimentation and turbidity, sludge and sand, biofilm, Legionella, taste and smell.
